Within walking distance of the Octagon and accommodation facilities, Catalyst is the perfect venue for your next function or event. With the choice of our covered courtyard, individual spaces, or the whole venue we can host anything from intimate gatherings, workshops, birthdays or larger parties.
The private hire of Catalyst incurs a $750 venue hire fee, unless a minimum spend of $2500 is spent on the night. This total minimum spend includes any catering done by Catalyst, all bar tab’s, money spent by your guests and any BYO fee’s.
If the minimum spend is not reached by the conclusion of your event, Catalyst reserves the right to charge the outstanding amount.
Catalyst can host up to 90 people allowing you to have full private use of our space and atrium courtyard.
Please note that reservation of Catalyst does not entitle guests to determine hours of opening, provide entry to guests deemed intoxicated, unsuitably dressed or antisocial, compel staff to serve alcohol to minors or undertake any other activities that contravene the Sale of Liquor Act.
When major damage occurs and affects Catalyst’s ability to open the following day you will be liable to pay for any lost revenue.
You are expected to conduct the event in a legal and responsible manner, and are responsible for the conduct of all guests. You are responsible for, and will be charged for, any damage and/or theft that occurs on Catalyst premises.
You can begin your function from 6:00pm and can gain access from 6:30pm to set up or decorate. The bar will be closed by 12:30am unless prior arrangements have been made. Once the bar has been closed, guests are required to leave the premises within 30 minutes.
A deposit of $250 is required to confirm your reservation to the bank account below, after which we will refuse other reservations for the evening. This deposit will be refunded in the following few days after your function, unless there has been damage to the property or substantial breakages. Where the manager on duty considers damages/breakages to be substantial, the deposit will be withheld until a full inspection of the premises can take place by the general manager.

Payment of the deposit confirms that you agree to the terms and conditions outlaid in this document.
Confirming your reservation requires Catalyst to turn away other business for that date. Your reservation is therefore not considered confirmed until your deposit is paid.
Catalyst will refund 100% of your deposit if a cancellation is made more than six weeks in advance and 50% for cancellations between three and six weeks in advance. No refund will be provided for cancellations made within three weeks of the function.
Catalyst requires little decoration! If you wish to bring flowers and balloons please do so, but please, no glitter, sprays or cellotape/hooks/bluetack on our walls.

Birthday cakes may be brought in from elsewhere with a $25 cakeage fee.

Full payment of tab’s and fee’s is required at the completion of your function unless prior arrangements have been made.
Catalyst can offer a wireless microphone for speeches and you can play your own music through a Spotify connection on our iPad. Please note we won’t act as DJ and take song requests every 5 minutes.
For 21st functions with expected guest lists of 50 people or more, it is compulsory to hire a security guard from 8pm onwards. With an expected guest list of 70 people or more, two security guards are required. At a cost of $35 per hour (each guard) with a minimum of 4 hours.
Catalyst will book this service for you. Security is there to protect your function and Catalyst property, and always remains under the direction of Catalyst staff.
Any patron, including the birthday person or members of their family, arriving intoxicated, attempting to bring alcohol onto the premises or discovered with alcohol purchased elsewhere on the premises will be denied entry for the entire evening without exception.
Any patron, including the birthday person or members of their family, who becomes intoxicated, is found using drugs and/or antisocial on Catalyst property will be required to leave the premises.
Any patron found to be deliberately damaging Catalyst property will be required to leave the premises.
Our atrium courtyard is smoke/vape free and no alcohol is allowed to be taken outside of our premise on to Princes Street. The staff or security has the right to ask any patron deliberately breaking the rules to leave the premise.
If you notice a person on the premises who is not a member of staff or part of your function, please alert the staff or security immediately – we will take care of removing them for you. If you require your guests to produce identification upon entry, please let us know.
If anyone is asked to leave the premises for one of these reasons and attempts to regain entry forcefully this may result in the entire function being closed. Any agreed costs will still be charged for the function.
